Posted by healthandsoul Thursday, March 4, 2010

Healthy living involves making positive changes. This enhances the physical, mental, and spiritual health. Some of these changes can be incorporated while you perform the following tasks.

• Have a healthy diet. You should include food items from all groups.
• Ensure a proper support system of friends and family members. Care and respect are important factors of healthy living.
• Exercise regularly to reduce stress and increase strength. This will also boost energy levels in the body.
• Quit smoking
• Avoid negative lifestyle practices.

The choices related to healthy living depend on the places of work, learning, and play. Keep yourself well-informed about recent healthcare practices. This will improve your overall health and well being.

Healthy LivingEating well is an important part of healthy living. The two primary factors of healthy living are eating the right food and exercising.

A balanced diet should include fruits, vegetables, and starches such as wholemeal bread and whole grain cereals. Meat, fish, eggs, and lentils are rich sources of proteins. Milk and dairy products, too, need to be consumed in adequate amounts.

The following are 8 tips on eating right:

1. Include starchy foods
Foods rich in starch such as bread, cereals, rice, pasta, and potatoes are important for healthy living. Include whole grain foods.

2. Consume lots of fruits and vegetable
Include a minimum of five portions of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Having a glass of juice is also beneficial.

3. Eat fish
Fish is a rich source of protein, and has many vitamins and minerals. Fish oil is healthy.

4. Lower consumptions of refined fat and sugar
Fats are essential to the diet. The type of fat determines if it is good or bad. Saturated fat is bad for the heart.

5. Lower consumption of salt
Limit consumption of salt to less than 6 grams per day.
